Report
We have lived in Fakenham for 37 years and we strongly believe in supporting local businesses. As a result, we have spent literally thousands (probably tens of thousands) of pounds over the years at Aldiss. A few days ago we decided that a new sideboard was required. We found one in Aldiss for 299 which was ideal. We queried the delivery cost of 49. We live half a mile from the depot and the delivery vehicles drive past the end of our road every day.
After much discussion, they agreed to reduce the delivery charge to 35. This offer was politely declined and we informed them that we would purchase the item elsewhere. The response was everyone has to pay the charge of 49 and you won't find the item cheaper anywhere else. Well we did find the item at the same price but with a delivery charge of 8.99. Whilst this incident does not involve a large sum of money, we were very disappointed with the staff reaction/comments and general customer service.
Should they possibly consider a scale of delivery charges based on the actual location? The current view, after a few days of contemplation, is that Aldiss have lost loyal, long standing customers of 37 years. In today's competitive market place, customer service is so important.
